Management Team Tim Sullivan, President A recognized leader in all aspects of parent involvement in schools, Tim has spent his entire career in the education world. Tim’s unique perspective on the education world comes from a variety of angles – first as a teacher and administrator at a NYC high school, then as a senior manager for a New England-based fundraising concern; and now as the founder and leader of PTO Today. He has spoken at hundreds of parent group meetings and to tens of thousands of parent group leaders all across the country. In print, on the radio and on national TV, Tim is a frequent contributor to national discussions on the importance of parent involvement in schools and the trends affecting the parent group world. He also maintains a role as a senior writer for PTO Today magazine and a leading voice on best practices in connecting with parent group leaders. Tim proudly serves on the Public Relations Committee of the Association of Fund-Raisers and Direct Sellers (AFRDS), a group with which he has been involved since he founded PTO Today in 1999. A graduate of the University of Notre Dame, Tim lives in Attleboro, Massachusetts with his wife Ellen and their four young children: Jeremiah, Luke, Ryan and Molly. Tim also serves on the parent group board at his children’s school. John Driscoll, Vice President, Sales & Business Development John brings more than 20 years of experience to his senior role with PTO Today. As Vice President of Physician Sales for Web MD and as Vice President of Field Sales for Whittle Communications, John has built wide-ranging, effective sales teams that have called on a diverse selection of clients. With Whittle and with A+America – a start-up fundraising company where he served as Vice President – John worked extensively in building mutually beneficial marketing programs focused on families with school-aged children. John’s work has been instrumental in helping PTO Today clients connect with parent group leaders and involved parents through programs (such as School Family Nights & Back2School2007 offerings) that connect groups and marketers in mutually beneficial partnerships. John is a graduate of the College of the Holy Cross and lives in Medfield, MA with his wife and three children. The Driscolls are members of the Dale Street School PTO in Medfield. Mike Schoen, VP School Services Mike joined PTO Today in 2004 and will be leading our efforts to provide even more services to K-8 parent groups. Whether it’s by further developing our growing PTO Today Plus (formerly NPN) service, helping to launch and grow our PTO Manager software offering or by bringing new services to parent groups, Mike and his team will continue the PTO Today track record of responsiveness and unparalleled focus on parent group leaders needs. Mike has spent his entire fifteen-year professional career working with schools, first colleges and universities and then grade schools (K-8). Mike was the co-founder of On Campus Marketing (OCM), a service firm that helped college parents stay connected with their college students. Before its eventual sale in June of 2001, OCM worked with over 1,000 colleges and universities all across the United States. As President of OCM, Mike ran all day to day operations including supervising a school management staff of twenty, overseeing a warehouse/customer service operation that handled more than 500,000 transactions annually, and managing a direct mail center that mailed several million school specific brochures each semester. More recently, Mike owned and operated a company in the K-8 market that partnered with parent groups to provide convenient and affordable school supplies for students. A graduate of The University of Virginia, Mike lives in Rockville, Maryland with his wife and three young daughters, Veronica, Brynne and Amanda. Mike and his wife Adria are members of the Fallsmead Elementary School PTA. Sue Dunn, Director of Marketing Sue Dunn brings more than 20 years of marketing and advertising experience to her role at PTO Today. Previously, the Senior Creative Director at Monster, Sue has a proven track record in brand building, web site development and interactive marketing for both consumer and B2B brands. With a degree in Journalism, Sue started out as an advertising copywriter, and has spent the better part of her career helping a wide variety of companies position and sell their products and services. Her innovative creative work has been recognized in MIMC, Hatch and Silver Microphone competitions, to name a few. Since joining PTO Today in 2005, Sue has been instrumental in defining and building the company’s brand messaging, positioning and visual identity. In addition to developing marketing communications and programs that speak to parent group leaders in a uniquely PTO Today way, Sue also leads the creative execution and brand integration efforts for all of PTO Today’s consumer-brand partnerships. Sue is a graduate of Suffolk University and lives in Franklin with her dog Bonnie. When she’s not thinking about marketing…well actually…she’s always thinking about marketing. Craig Bystrynski, Editor in Chief Craig has more than 20 years of experience building the kind of informative content with a hands-on focus that PTO Today readers have come to rely on. He has led PTO Today’s varied editorial efforts, including print, electronic, and live presentations, for five years. Over his career, Craig has been chief editor of 10 different magazines. He previously served as editorial director of Niche Publications, where he oversaw the launch of four magazine titles in five years. He has also written about education-related topics for publications on the local and national level. Craig and his team of editors, writers, and trusted freelancers have earned a reputation for understanding the needs and challenges of parent group leaders like no others. Craig is a graduate of Colby College and lives in Natick, Mass., with his wife, Heidi. John Williams, National Sales Director John has been with PTO Today since 2001 and brings more than 20 years combined magazine and advertising experience to his role. John’s vision is to help our clients achieve long-term growth in this market as the result of strategic collaboration, planning and execution through the variety of marketing and advertising vehicles available through PTO Today. A graduate of Ithaca College in New York, John and his wife Christine live in Franklin, Massachusetts with their two school-aged children, John and Laura. The Williams family belongs to the Kennedy School PCC. Janis Daly, Director of Sponsorship Sales Janis recently joined the PTO Today sales and partnership team to continue our efforts in building unique, through-school involvement programs that connect America’s best brands to both the essential parent involvement cause and passionate involved school families. She has spent the last 20 years in sales and marketing for such consumer-driven companies as The Walt Disney Company (Radio Disney), Coca-Cola USA, Bank of America, and the Children’s Museum of Boston. A graduate of Wheaton College in Massachusetts, Janis lives in Norfolk, Massachusetts, with her husband, two sons, and two dogs. The Dalys are active members of the Norfolk and the St. Sebastian’s school parent groups. Nancy Sousa, General Manager A former "schools" manager for a Boston-based fundraising company, Nancy has spent the better part of the past 17 years in management. In her school role, Nancy acquired an appreciation for the passion and devotion of school volunteers. With PTO Today, Nancy takes care of nearly all aspects of school customer support and is the guiding force behind our Parent Group Events. A graduate of Salem State College, Nancy lives in Tewksbury, MA with her husband Dean. Nancy also serves on the Board of Directors of the Massachusetts-based nonprofit, Arts are Essential, committed to keeping the arts alive in our schools.
