Question: expired box tops

Anyone have any ideas on what to do with expired box tops? I had heard that the military uses them in their commisary even if there expired. Does anyone know?

Yes, I would like to find about the military commisary for use of expired box tops. I used some of my expired box tops to decorate manila envelopes for teacher. Is so easy to spot a manila envelope with box tops all over. And I used them for display too.

(1) Laminate them and trim carefully, then add jewelry pieces from a craft store. Give them out to the teachers and PTO members to wear as advertisement. (2) Use them on your posters. I spelled out "BOX TOPS CONTEST" and used them as a border on my daily hallway tally chart. (3) Trim them down to one layer, put a few in a vertical row on a sheet of light pink cardstock, and laminate it. Trim to bookmark size and hand out as prizes.

I just learned about the expiration date. I have been clipping these things for years and never noticed. I just threw out over 1,000 expired points. Being from California ( I am in NC now) our legislatures made expiration dates illegal so I never paid attention. Now I have lost ALL interest in this program and will never bother clipping nor buying products just because they have the Box Tops. The products usually cost a lot more and only pay .10. I am so disappointed.

It's very important that each Box Tops clip has a clearly visible product acronym and expiration date. If we are unable to read the acronym or expiration date, they cannot accept the clip. Additionally, expired Box Tops are not accepted. If the expiration date only shows a year that is in the future, they will accept it. boxtops4education.com FAQs

I hate that I needed to search for an answer for this. I hate that box Tops for education, which should be a charitable thing, is so uncharitable as to put an expiration date on their charity. According to an answer above, if I ever get expired ones I believe I will save them for my grandson in California if they have a ban on expiration dates there.

I have a few expired ones, and one is a bonus certificate for 8, so if you could give me an address I could mail them I would. Even if it's a school address to avoid privacy issues. Might as well make use of them if I can. I only bought the products with this in mind.
