Can a teacher serve on the PTO Board?

It's really up to your local bylaws, but -- typically -- yes! There are districts and/or principals who frown upon it, and I've seen some groups that reserve board seats only for parents, but the typical bylaws I've seen keep those slots open for any interested member. A teacher can certainly be that. Tim

Our ptrincipal and two teachers are board observers. They attend the meetings and participate in all discussions but they do not have voting rights. We love having our teachers at the meeting. They bring insight that we couldn't have as parents. With current state budget cuts (in CA) we feel strongly that the principal and teachers need to remain observers and not voting members so that there is no conflict of interest.
