Question: Is a Constitution REQUIRED for 501c3 filing?

We are a fairly new organization that is trying to file for our 501c3 status. We are not incorporated and as we understand we don't have to be. We have bylaws in place. Is a constitution required? Or are the bylaws sufficient.

Bylaws are typically more detailed than organizing documents or a constitution. You might want to look at what is requested for Articles of Organization for your state and adopt something similar if you choose not to incorporate. We here at PTO Today recommend that you become incorporated prior to filing for 501(c)(3) status. PTO Today's website has lots of free information regarding 501(c)(3) filing. PTO Today's Start-up Guide would be a great investment and would help tremendously in completing Form 1023. Here is a link to purchase it: https://www.ptotoday.com/store#!/home. Read through Section II and III of Form 1023 regarding your organizing documents. Calling the IRS 877-829-5500 might be helpful as well.
