Question: Filing 501c3

In Part X (ten) of the 1023 IRS tax exemption application, what do PTO's mark as their Public Charity Status? I've weeded out all but b. School or d. a supporting organization. Either way I'm way confused. HELP!

We recommend that you check line i and let the IRS rule on your status. Usually, PTOs are determined to be 509(a)(2) organizations, which corresponds to line h. That simply means that you raise most of your money through fundraising or dues. By the way, our PTO Startup Toolkit walks you through form 1023 question by question.
