What kind of financial controls does your group have in place? The number one thing you should be doing is having someone other than the treasurer review the bank statements every month. Have a duplicate sent to an officer who is not a signer on the account, or have the original sent to that officer and then passed on to the treasurer. (Don't do it the other way around.) You should also have bonding insurance for your group. Read the article 5 Smart Financial Controls. These are simple safeguards and you should be doing them even if Bill Gates were your treasurer. As far as getting her to resign, how you approach that depends a little bit on the her personality. However, I suggest being straightforward that this is a detail oriented job that doesn't seem to be working out for her -- she might be happier in an alternative job (I'd have one to suggest) that is also important but might suit her better.

You can suggest this at the next executive meeting to have two signers for the bank account. This is what we do at our school. We have me, the president and the treasurer on the account.
