Question: principal involvement at meetings

Our principal is very active in our PTO, almost too active. She attends every meeting and takes the minutes. This means she also attends our budget meeting and sets the tone for what our fundraising money will be used for. Are we required to have the principal present? Is this too involved for her? I picture giving her 10 min time at each meeting and getting suggestions for school needs, but not even having her at our budget meeting. She is very sweet, but I feel that she runs the PTO and we are her hands and feet.

I haven't been in this situation myself, but would point you to this advice given by a principal who has also been in a parent group. If you scroll down to the third question in this Q&A, she gives advice to another parent concerned that the principal is micromanaging the PTO.
