What is a 'Boosters' Club? Is it any different to a PTO?

As a general rule, booster clubs are associated with a specific sports team or club, whereas PTOs are parent groups associated with a school and do fundraising, school enrichment and activities. Although, we did recently come across a PTO that was called a "school booster club.''
