Question: Policing meetings?

Do any other PTOs post an on-duty uniformed police officer at the door of their meetings? What is the rationale behind that?

I can't say that we've heard of that before. My guess is there is a back story here. Something must have occurred for this to be the case. Is it possible to ask the group leaders for an explanation?

I have heard that in the past when our school had a PTA about 15 years ago, toward the end they had to have a police officer at the meetings because some parents had gang affiliations and would show up in their 'colors' and one time or two after the meetings there would be skirmishes in the parking lot. I've always thought this was a wild rumor but now seeing your question maybe it really happened? I'd definitely ask.
