Your question is a bit ambiguous the way you worded it. Are you asking is a Treasurer who is a volunteer of PTO allowed to ask for receipts for purchases (made by others) or are you asking is any volunteer of PTO allowed to ask the Treasurer for receipts of those purchases?

Hello, Countrygirl, I'd say anyone can ask anything. It's a free country. My concern is why do you wonder if you are 'allowed'? Do you suspect some sort of mishandling? (If so, what to do is another question entirely, so maybe re-post.) It would be good to know if your PTO already uses the wise financial controls mentioned on this site: such as the person who makes the purchases or purchase decisions is not the one writing the checks or keeping the ledger and there are two people signing checks and a different person doing an in-house audit on some sort of regular interval. In general, all of those should uncover any errors from receipts. (And, no, it doesn't work if the two people signing the checks are also the ones making all the spending decisions, recording the ledgers.)

There is only one person who writes checks, make purchases and really has the say in what we are going to spend. I am unsure of things because I have emailed her and she does not respond to my questions. I think I am going to go to the principal and talk to him.
