Question: Can I remove Principal from bank acct?

Can The principal be removed from the PTO checking acct.? She is taking money from other organizations like Beta Club etc. depositing the money and writing cks against it. IRS made us open another acct. as PTO because school related money was being run through it and shes doing it again! SHe also apptd. new officers herself since I am now attending school full time. Most are school officials. Isn't this overstepping ? I have been President for almost 8 Years. With lil to no help. And been successful til now.

This sounds like a difficult situation. You can first try to have a conversation with the principal to again outline your concerns. You can let her know there are generally accepted practices with PTOs and how financial decisions should be made so it does not become a situation of you against the principal. You can refer to this article on 5 Smart Financial Controls, which discusses such things as having 2 signatures on checks. But in order for these processes to work, you have to have trust between the principal and the PTO and agreement to make it work. If the principal is not willing to work with you, then you may need to let her know your plan is to remove her name from the account so she will no longer be able to write checks. Good luck with this. Let us know how you make out.
