Hi, My daughter will be starting kindergarten next fall and I was wondering what the best way is to get started with the PTO - since I don't currently know anyone there.

Hi there! First of all, congrats for wanting to get involved! There will likely be some kind of welcome events over the summer or right before school starts where you can connect with PTO members. But, in the meantime, you could consider contacting the PTO or PTA board at the school where your child will be attending next year and let them know you'd be interested in volunteering/helping out next year. Many parent groups do events for parents -- boo-hoo breakfasts, they are often called! -- as a way for parents to connect. You might want to check the website of your child's new school. Very often the PTO will have either a page on that website or their own website (or the PTO is on Facebook) and you can learn a lot about the group from reading through what's been published. Also, a great resource for new parents is the Message Board on our site. We have an active community here and you can post any questions you have about volunteering. You'll get your questions answered by peers and make connections with other volunteers. Best of luck!
