There really isn't a simple answer to this. It would depend on the size of your school, your PTO budget, and parents' general attitude about spending money on teachers (at some schools, parents don't like PTOs spending money on anything but students and student programs).

Having said all that, we'd say that you actually don't have to spend much money to do a really great teacher appreciation celebration. Teachers love simple gifts, like notes from students, and the gift of time, such as giving teachers coverage for recesses. Many groups host a teacher breakfast or lunch by asking parents to send in donations.
