The PTO needs to apply for an EIN. What are future liabilities for the person who submits the form, since you have to put a SS# out there?

Hi there,
There should be no liabilities. When you apply for an EIN for your group, the IRS asks for an individual's social security number on the application. The IRS says the social security number is for identification purposes only. The person who gives his social security number on the application isn't liable or responsible for the group's activities in any way. It's just a way to discourage illegal activity.

Here's some information from the IRS on the process: https://www.irs.gov/businesses/small-businesses-self-employed/apply-for-an-employer-identification-number-ein-online

Good luck! Rose
