elections

Can someone help me? Our teacher rep. approached someone before school started and said she wanted them to do treasurer this year. We have elections in Sept. for officers so I question her doing this. I am the President until elections and my husbands uncle died so I called to reschedule the meeting. Our teacher rep told me I didn't need to be there that elections can be held without me. My V.P. is now refusing to go and stand in for me. Something sounds fishy to both of us. My question is can a meeting be held without the President or V.P there? Thank you for any input

The board president is not allowed to unilaterally change the date of a scheduled meeting, much less the date of a scheduled election.

Regarding the election process and whether the teacher rep can properly invalidate any of the procedures, it would be helpful to see the verbage in your by-laws regarding how board members are elected.

My condolences on the death in your family!
