PTO President 2 Years, 9 Months ago

I am new to the PTO, and I am the new President at our school. I have 2 children and it looks like involvement for many years to come. No one seems to have a set of our by laws and I was wanting to know if anyone knows how I might go about getting a set of the ones we are suppose to already have, or do I have to make a new set. I thought this would be more organized then what it is. I am in WV, someone said the Secretary of the States office might have them sense you have to charter through them. If anyone knows this please feel free to let me know.

If you are a 501(c)3 I believe at some point someone would have had to file the by-laws with the IRS and your 501(c)3 application. Can anyone verify that?

Yes, to obtain your 501C3 status, you would have had to file a copy with the IRS. You can try to call and see if they have a copy on file. Also try and call all old officers since they may have tucked them away somewhere. The Principal should also have a copy.
Try this number and maybe they can refer you to the correct office

You can also check with your Town Hall. I know that we have a set on file there so it's worth a shot.
Good luck,
