High School- school supply lists?

How does your HS distribute your school supply lists for each of its teachers?

Our school is looking for a more efficient way. Right now the students get their schedule the first day of school go to each of the classes where the students then get the supply list. Sounds easy enough.

But as we all know many teachers have long lengthy lists or items that at this point are no where to be found.

Any advice or how your school does this better I would appreciate any insight.

Thank you

It's the same for our high school. It all starts with the teachers. If they would compile their supply lists by early July, it could be published on the website. Parents could be notified by the school's mass email system that the info is available on line.

HOWEVER, it would only work if the guidance department gets out the student schedules by late July also. Therein lays the rub, because they either can't or won't for various reasons. While the students at our school enroll in the spring for the following fall, there are multiple teachers for any given class, each with their own supply requirements. Sometimes schools are still hiring in July and, at our school anyway, classes are still be shifted around depending on the numbers right up to the last day before school starts.

Perhaps a hybrid solution is possible: A list of the basic supplies needed for, say, Alegebra I could be posted on the website by July with the understanding that a custom supply list needed for that class in addition to the basics will be given to the students by the teachers during the first week of school. Then, at least the parents could get part of the supply shopping out of the way when supplies are still available.
