AFTER SCHOOL PROGRAMS

Our school has an active after school enrichment/activity program. We have offered basketball, beachball volleyball, cooking, computer, spanish and a few others. We are looking to start a math club and reading club. Has anyone had success with this type of program. How did you get kids interested, what activities helped to keep interest during the hour, etc. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Our school recently started an afterschool program. It was difficult to keep their attention. We had a hard time getting volunteers and the teachers were in contract negotiations.
The kids enjoyed internet class and trash to treasures. In the trash class, the students made crafts from film canisters and many other items that are thrown away.
Also, the kids did a habitat class.
Stategy games was fun but at the end of the day, the kids were tired.
