HELP! Valentine Day Sale!

I'm in big, huge trouble. We planned to sell some items for Valentines day not to make alot of money, mostly to get the children exited about buying something for there loved ones. We will be selling item ranging from .25 - 2.00. I purchased items from a company they came in yesturday (10th) the are not what I expected (they look soo cheap) the item I hoped to sell for a small profit will have to be sold a the price I purchased them for. Does anyone have any ideas of what I can sell, parents are bringing in cupcakes, I got an idea about cupid's poop from organizedhome.com maybe I can change the name, I thought maybe I could make popcorn balls. I don't have to much time. Please Help Me.

What about talking to a local florist about donating some carnations (or a small fee)or perhaps a bakery for some different flavor cookies.

Those could go for .25 or .50 per.

Good luck!

First of all I would send the CHEAP STUFF back to the company at THEIR expense( I have done this and it works). Call them up and say you will not except the substandard stuff and go from there. Hit a 99 cent store and see what you can come up with, but I would just go with baked goods and maybe a stamping card project that can be personalized from each child. No way would I put out cheap products to sell at cost, you are then working for the company you bought the stuff from! You are right, it is time to regroup,do not feel like you have to sell the stuff you got in the mail.

This will not help you now, but maybe in the future. Do not be affraid to call the company and tell them you are returning the merchandise. Also, we contacted a local $1 Shop and sold items for $1.00. Most $1 Shops will offer a small discount of 10-15%. We were fortunate, the $1 Shop let us return any unused items and pay for the used items when we returned the items. We sold over 500 items and have 100 students.

bzzmom,
This also will not help you now but you could use it next year. Our high school sold ballons. Some of the ballons they attached candy bars on the bottom as weights. They didn't advertise to our elementry (we sit right beside each other)like they should have.

The senior's are the ones that used this as a fund-raiser and the high school was full of ballons. It was a last minute idea so they didn't think they had time to envolve the elementry.

Hope this may help you in the future... Kids always love ballons and you can get them for penny's...

Here is an idea for next year. This year (for the first time) I ordered red silk roses, wrapped with card for $3.25 a dozen from US Toy Co. We sold them to the children for $1.00 each, filled out the cards for them and delivered them to classrooms on Valentine's Day. We did this for the children, not to make big bucks. It was spectacular!!!! The children loved it and we ended up making close to $300.00.
