I would like to know where I can find some examples of installation ceremonies. We are welcoming our new officers Tuesday. Please help me?

In college, I belonged to DECA and we would read off the officers duties and they wold pledge to do their best to give 100%. Of course before that we would totally embaress the new officers by making them eat dinner blind folded etc....yeah, I miss college. We just have an informal meeting to exchange/turn over documents. A food fight would be fun though!
Hope this ??inspires???you!

We're having our official elections Tuesday also. Boy, I sure hope we don't have an installation ceremony! That would be too embarrassing! (I'm incoming pres.) We plan to present gifts to the outgoing exec. board & I sure hope that's it!

A great book that has 26 different installation ceremonies is one I found by Pat Hines entitled "Installation Ceremonies for Every Group-26 Memorable Ways to Install New Officers." It is available from Barnes and Noble for about $13.95 and has lots of great ways to make the transition of officers fun! I think its a great way to lighten up your meetings and put the new officers at ease right from the start. Most of the little ceremonies are very informal, last about ten minutes, and involve a symbolic small gift of some kind. For instance, a candy bar theme where you present the new treasurer with a Payday candy bar, the new secretary with a Mounds bar (signifying "Mounds" of paper work they get to work on), a Milky Way for the president who is the principal star in the organization's "galaxy", etc. Members are then each given a Three Musketeers" bite-size candy bar to remind them of the "One for all and all for one" slogan. This is just one of the ideas in this book and I highly recommend it. I think these types of ceremonies are strictly for fun and I can't imagine anyone being embarassed by it. I would certainly make sure that the new officers knew ahead of time that you were planning a fun little ceremony though, if you have concerns that they might be upset by it.
