Sponsoring Events

9 Years, 5 Months ago

Page: 1

At the end of last year our board elected to become a PTA group for the 2002-03 school year.

It is not the 2002-03 year and the board consists of all new members that were not directly involved in last years group.

We are coming up to our membership drive and currently revising our by-laws.

Every year-end, in the past, we as a parent group, have sponsored a 5th grade going away party at our school. I was told that within the PTA guidelines we are not allowed to spend fundraised monies on only the 5th graders. Or for that matter, we can only sponsor events that include the school as a whole.(all student grades)

Does anyone have any information about this issue? I'm very concerned. Can PTA govern the way in which we spend our fundraising monies and which events we (all members) choose to spend it on? We were talking about having a daddy/daughter dance. Being that it would not include sons and mothers, can we sponsor it?

Help!!!
