We received BOXES of books from a publisher. We had to pick them up, but it was well worth it! We also received autographed books from Lawrence Block and Jan & Stan Berenstain.
You need to go online for each sports team and look at the community relations/donation procedure. We had to send letters on official letterhead with specific information. Each team is slightly different and most will give to organizations in the team's area. The football, basketball, and hockey teams have been great! I give baseball a thumbs down though.
Stampin' Up, Hershey Park, Omaha Steaks, World Kitchen did not send us a donation.

We got 2 donations from pro sports teams-- one was a poster, one was a shirt and hat. Some teams are pretty specific that they'll only send to organizations in their area.
The Jan Brett poster is super cute! We got one of those, as well.
I'm definitely going to put more effort into sending letters to authors next year. That sounds like an area I missed out on.
