terracycle.net

10 Months, 1 Week ago

Has anyone used terracycle.net and would be willing to share some best practices? (They pay $0.02 each for used drink pouches.)

I'm thinking about suggesting this for our school next year. I mentioned it to a fellow Board member and she thought it would be too "messy".

Thank you.

We have been participating in almost all of the Terracycle fundraisers this year. You will NOT make a lot of money with this. We are mainly doing it for environmental awareness and to help keep all the stuff out of the landfill. The women running the program are very eco-minded which I think is a necessity. Since there's not much financial reward, you really are doing it for a higher purpose. We have milk crates set up in the lunchroom to collect recyclables during lunch and take donations from home at a drop off box in our front hallway. The juice pouches must be rinsed out before sending in. We have some 5th graders who volunteer to help clean pouches after school. Donations sent in from home should be already cleaned by the parents. However, the person running the program will end up doing a lot of cleaning on their own time. We love this program mainly because it's helping our planet and hopefully teaching the kids to be aware of their garbage output.
