Fundraising for Small School/Community

7 Months, 1 Week ago

We are re-activating our PTO after a few years of inactivity. I am looking for fundraising ideas with little or no start-up costs. We are a very small school of less than 150 students K thru 12th grades. Our county is very rural and only has about 1,000 residents. People have been hit hard here with the current economy. Any suggestions would be a great help.

I thought about a used book sale and have kids and parents donate their old or out grown books and resell them at a school event. Thanks

I'm telling you--Yankee Candles before the holidays are terrific. EVERYONE buys at least one and gives them for gifts to teachers etcetera.

You should maybe look into ButterBraids. We are a very small school with only 35 kids and we have done really well with this fundraiser. Also, we have done a Spaghetti Dinner tickets at $5.00 a piece which has turned out great also.

Thanks for the great ideas guys! I did contact Yankee Candles online and I am waiting for a packet from them. I like the dinner idea too, someone suggested a pancake breakfast too.

Thanks again!

Hello,
For something in the spring try SupplyGenie.com. It's a new company that you can order pre-packaged, delivered school supplies through for the 2010 school year. They are offering great prices for items your families will need plus you can do it as a fundraiser, selecting the percentage for the school (if any at all). My 2nd grade list was $45 this year and they priced it at $32.50!
But they won’t be starting until 2010.
