Anyone have any ideas other than a thermometer to show fundraising efforts and amounts raised for a particular project.

At our school we have a local bank that makes a GIANT PIGGY BANK cut out of wood, they paint it (with a small ad for themselves on it too). We color the pig pink at different money levels until it is (hopefully) filled! =) This is for school wide


On a smaller scale for classrooms and such we use a chart system that shows that the classes compared to other classes...we make it a contest and it seems to get the kids motivated more! We then offer a reward to everyone at the end as well as a Grand Prize for the winning classroom.

Our mascot are the Mustangs. For the Box Tops fundraiser we placed posters in the multipurpose room by grade. Each grade listed the teachers. Next to each teacher was a mustang (on a stick). Each month we count the box tops and move the mustangs accordingly. At our monthly round-up sing, we announce the winning teachers by grade and pass out a golden horseshoe (paper horseshoe). At the end of the year, the class that has brought in the most box tops will get a party. The golden horseshoes are given for all kinds of awards. We give golden horseshoes for attendance, good behavior, etc. The principal will do something special for the class(s) with the most golden horseshoes.

Depending on your topic (food drive, school supplies...) choose an image that is representative of that. If you are doing a food drive, make a large can of soup. As you reach your goal the can fills up. When the goal is reached, make it look like the lid of the can blows off. For school supplies, make a large box of crayons and the individual crayons can represent x amount of the items you are collecting.

You can also use something that is relevant to the time of year or the season. Build a snowman, for the winter. Start with a plain board with maybe a "mound of snow". Then add a circle and another circle.. etc. until the snowman is built.

I like to keep our posters fun for the kids. Sometimes we make them interactive too. Like the snowman example, each week or day, have a different student add a piece to the snowman. Or a holiday tree. The final goal for that can be to get a star on top. Add decorations
