Does your PTO already have all the funds it needs?

Good point, nateco. It's definitely a balancing act!

I have heard this too, I would think a PTO could never have to much money? Seems strange to me, but makes sense if they don't want to earn to much so as to lose their community.

Hi rolo1792,

It isn't unusual. Lots of factors go into the selection of fundraising programs. The group may be committed to several programs and is reluctant to add another. Groups are always trying to strike the right balance so they don't fundraise too much and alienate parents.

If it's a good fundraising idea, it is worth checking back in with the board later in the year and letting them know you are available to talk about it if they are interested.

Good luck!

Hi - I reached out to my son's Elementary school PTO with a fundraising idea that I think is perfect - almost no work for them, no asking parents to do/give any more, and could be a significant source of revenue. I was essentially told that they already have all the funds they need so thanks, but no thanks.

Is this common? I can't imagine most PTO/PTAs already have all the funds they need, but I could be wrong - my son is in 1st grade so this is my first time getting involved.

I reached out to the school Father's Club and presented the idea, which they're evaluating. Is this typical?
