I'm trying to think of different speakers/ideas for each one of our meetings and I don't know where to start. I'm thinking educational puppets? drug/alcohol speakers? what else????? and who do i contact?? keep in mind that the pto members and students range from k-12. any ideas would be helpful!!

thanks

Our Meetings usually start at 6:30 with a "Topic" and then the agenda meeting at 7:00.
We usually ask that the principle come and share something that she has heard back from staff or parents on.....like the school remodeling over the summer, TEST scores, the new Math or Social Studies programs, staffing for next year, what is happening in the district. I hope that this helps.

I have found our Youth Services in our city to be quite helpful. They have come in and talked about "getting your middle schooler throught the rest of the year", "talking to your student about drugs, smoking, etc...", we even had a pharmacist come in and parents were able to bring in their perscriptions and ask questions about them. Also if there is a teaching college near you they will send you speakers on different subjects like "study skills" how to help with homework etc..." also, check with your local hospital and get speakers on health related issues.
