Has anyone set up an affiliate marketing program as a Fundraiser?

I set up two PTAs with their own Amazon Affiliate account and all we have to do is encourage people to do their Amazon shopping by clicking through the affiliate link first. You get anywhere from 4-10% of what is purchased and this can include Amazon Local, Kindle, etc The referral link is good for 30 days (via cookie) and that means that if someone shops again within that time period, your group would most likely get credit for it, too. Note that this is NOT Amazon Smile where you can link your shopper account to contribute .02% to the non-profit of your choice. This is also NOT through eScrip where they also give a paltry low percentage. Payment is done via direct deposit or check and it's been a gem.

Thanks for the nice compliments - and for checking out the site. The parent volunteer who runs the website this year just got the affiliate program set-up in the past month. So we have yet to determine the results. We did promote the new program in the newsletter and I think with the holiday shopping season fast approaching it could make a difference. We are having a great year with fundraising and - dare I say it - are almost raising money faster than we can spend it. I look forward to seeing how other schools use this outlet...so post any links to those websites. Thanks,

Lisa

Lisa: LOVED your site. Really touches all the bases. How well does it perform for your school? Does Linkshare get their checks out on time? (I'm more familiar with Commission Junction and BeFree) Also, do you ever send home updates or coupon codes to the parents via monthly newsletter or backpack? If so, was the result positive? Please post or email me with any useful info.

I was thinking that I would include more text hyperlinks with the smaller vertical banners down one side for my project as most of our families are still using 56K dialup connections, but I was glad to see your site - Looks SHARP! Thanks!!

We do use an affiliate program on our PTSO website. Our webmaster volunteer set it up just recently. You can check it out by clicking here:

That's a pretty cool site. I emailed them to ask if they had a banner graphic to add to our site. I could see people buying from that site at the same price as the catalog. We used Beich's for the fall fundraiser, which is principally a candy company, but also sold gift wraps, etc. Seems like Current would be a better source for those items. If anyone has more good sites, post them so we can check them out. THANKS!!

These are good tips. Has anyone checked out currentfun.com? It's basically the Current catalog but online. They pay 50% vs. some of these other affiliate programs and you don't have to link to their site. As a follow up, I looked into smileysbookstore.com and they are the same as Current but offer different products.

I wonder how many other vedors are moving in this direction? Better than catalogs in my opinion and better than affiliate programs.

I'll let you know if we have any success. Thanks for all these great ideas. Glad I found this site!
