We are celebrating our 50th already and have been having lots of fun we had a carnival not for raising funds but just for fun for the kids and are having our rededication this weekend and the whole town is turning out we searched for alumni in the local papers and gathered photo's and history and wrote a booklet history of the school and made picture displays we are having a brunch for just certian town people then a ceremony then an open house. Upcoming we are doing a time capsule, a sock hop 50"s dance with our regular pizza night and the teachers are working with the kids as we split up the decades and each grade level is making a display for the whole school about that decade to be combined with a dress up day. We are also having an adult dinner dance dress up for the parents. We are still working our the rest but that's it for now!!

we're also celebrating our 5oth anniversary next year and we are selling bricks for $50.00 each. You can put your child's name or your familiy name on them and they will all be placed around the flagpole and we can add to them every year so your child can be part of an everlasting thing. also, we are having school spirit T-shirts printed uo that will say our school name and then 50th ann. or it will say 1953-2003. We haven't decided that yet. We were able to get a good price on the bricks by calling around and asking for discounts and we have a parent that is going to install them for us for free. So, on top of having the bricks it has actually turned into a little fundraiser for us so that we can get the next phase of our playground installed. Good Luck!

Our school is celebrating its 50th anniversary next year. Some of the ideas we've been tossing around include a time capsule, an open house for alumni and the community, historical displays, a 1950s-themed dress up day for the kids, poster contest, essay contest, a banner that proclaims the anniversary, etc.

It would be great if teachers could tie the anniversary in to their curriculums somehow, but I don't really have any control over that. I'd also like to look into a rededication ceremony of some kind - get some area dignitaries to come out, get a legislative tribute, that sort of thing. Oh, and maybe sell special school spirit items that note the special year on them. Any ideas for those?

Does anyone have any other ideas?
