Rae Ann-
Thanks so much for telling us about your contests. They sound fun!

Anyone else planning any Boxtops contests for the fall that they can share?

Lots of collection sheets here that might prompt some ideas...

We have many contests throughout the year. But we specifically have two contest that the students vote with theire boxtops.

The first is for the Superbowl. We set up containers for each team in playoffs. Each week, we have random drawing winners from the winning teams for a prize. Then we choose a grandprize random drawing winner from the super bowl winning team.

The month before our spring fling we have students vote for who they would like to "Kiss the Pig". Various teachers & staff sign up to do this. The winner kisses the pig at the Spring Fling. It is VERY popular & brings people to the Spring Fling. Our second year of this contest we did "Pecka the Alpaca".

This year we are offering the class in our K-6th elementary a movie night showing the movie of the classes choice (with school approval, of course). We have a license to show over 300 movies (current and past) that we pay for anyway to use for our community building family nights so this is no expense for us. We also have a relationship with a local movie theater who not only donates popcorn but movie posters.

In elem. school, "Boys Vs. Girls" is popular contest. Winners get bragging rights, so you're not out cost of prizes. In contests between classrooms we sometimes are allowed to offer an ice-cream recess or a pizza lunch for winning class (which doesn't take up any class time.)

I talked to our chairperson for Box Tops. She has agreed to put on her upcoming flyer that if we meet a set figure goal, the entire student body will receive a treat at the end of the year. I plan on having the newsletter chairperson hype this up over the course of the year. I am thinking freezer pops in the spring would be a good way to go since they are inexpensive. I like this route because every student receives a treat. Also we do not have to track each individual class.
