Hi everyone, I am new to this site and have a few questions. I am the new teacher appreciation chairperson for my kids school
next year and would LOVE some ideas. I feel
like maybe I'm in a little over my head
as I also do alot of other work at the school but have never gotten too deep into T.A. I have about $1.25 monthly budget for teachers gifts and 2-4 dollars for teacher birthdays and not sure about T.A. week .
Also, need to put on a teachers breakfast Aug 9th
Any ideas, advice??

Thanks in advance
Mom of five great kids, Julie H.

There are some teacher appreciation ideas on our council web site www.myschoolonline.com/page/0,1871,36872...653-41-38560,00.html more are in the process of being added over the summer. A small but fun thing we did this past year was cover Hershey Bars with a wrapper with our school on one side and the ingredients of a good teacher on the other side. Inexpensive! Will try to find the ingredients for you. We do a breakfast for the staff during teacher appreciation week. There are 54 staff but only about 35-40 attend. We have parents bake at least 4 breakfast quiche or casseroles 9x13, juice, muffins, bagels, coffee and their favorite are sausage balls and fruit trays. Parents donate most. If I can find my notes I will email them to you. Best Wishes

We have a budget for our Teacher Appreciation committee.

We offer dinner to the teachers during parent/teacher conference night and have a salad luncheon for them during Teacher Appreciation Week.

When funds allow, we have given our teachers a gift of $25 Scholastic funds. They are able to purchase items for their classrooms and in turn it also benefits our library

We have also given little votives to teachers (you light up our children's lives) or small bags with "kisses and hugs" or small plants (sometimes donated from a local greenhouse) because they help our children keep growing. All kinda corny but the staff loves it!!

I hope this is helpful.

Our school has does a breakfast, lunch or snack bar each month. During conference time the committee puts a dinner together for the staff. The chairperson takes the master list of people who have signed up for the committee and breaks it down per month--giving one person from the list the responsibility to organize it. That person calls the individuals(about 10-13 people) to get donations of food. The food varies...Mexican, Sweet Snacks, baked potato bar, muffins, salads,etc.. They have a raffle for small gift or ceterpiece sometimes. Hope this helps!

My daughter's school assigns each grade to be responsible for 1 day of teacher appreciation. IE: Monday= kindergarten parents responsible to host teacher appreciation, Tuesday= 1st grade responsible, Wednesday= 2nd grade parents responsible, etc. etc. I thought this was a great and equitable way to divvy up the responsibilities and not burn out the core volunteers!
