Hi do you sign up as a teacher? I am thinking about starting this with our PTO and don't know which option to choose.

We use Remind101 for our Swim Team and also a lot of our HS teachers use it. It's awesome. Whoever receives the msgs can actually reply back.

I think each person would have to find out from their provider. Most people I know have unlimited txt - especially our swimmers. I mean what would the world come to if they couldn't send 1000 msgs a month! Right?:)

Hope it works for you!

Hi Beth!
We started using Remind this year and I find it a great way to communicate with our families. I mostly use it for last minute reminders (like "don't forget about the PTA meeting tonight, come to restaurant night tonight at ...). I have almost always sent out an email with more info earlier on, so this is just that friendly reminder. We had a place on our applications that parents could sign up for it so they were not automatically enrolled. We also don't send out more then 1-2 messages a week (sometimes not even that). You really can go wrong with this, especially since it is free for you and parents can always opt out.

Hope this helps,
Saleena

Hi blippincott,
Your best bet would be the vendor--they should be able to sort this out for you!

Good luck!

Hello,

Has anyone used the Remind app or texting service for their PTO?

My middle schooler has 2 teachers who use it to send out text reminders to parents (who sign up) things like project reminders, test reminders, etc.

I am wondering about using it for my son's PTO as a way to try to increase "marketing" and get more participation for PTO meetings and all other PTO events? One PTO member has a concern about texting charges. My cell contract does not have text charges, so I am not familiar with the cost. It's a good concern, but if the cost seems manageable for the anticipated outcome, it might be worth it. I sent an email to their customer service for more info.

Looking forward to your responses!

Beth
