Hello! I am looking for any schools that do an outdoor winterfest. I live in Michigan and have always wanted to do something for our school in the great outdoors of our winter wonderland. Please share any ideas of things that have been used at your schools?

Thanks!

An idea that went over big with one of our schools was a winterfest that included a snow building contest- animals or forts or snow castles, we also had sleigh rides, each class did a tree trimming (provided you have evergreens around the school) we provided warm refreshments in the cafe so people had a "warming" center

One of our district schools did some of the afore mentioned and ice scluptures. They had the classes use large buckets and pans and such. Then they added food coloring, glitter, beads, etc. Used the school freezer and tada, ice sclupture. They had parents pick the winning 'block'.

Our school will be having a sledding night. We will have a bonfire and ask each family to bring their own hot dogs/buns. we will provide the hill, fire and hot chocolate.

Hmmm - "Winterfest" - what a concept. I suppose it helps to have winter. Here in Texas, it's not always cold enough for a jacket until January. My kids are 10 and 13. I think they've each seen real snow twice(like two or three inches that melts by lunchtime).

I have to confess I've BOUGHT snow more times than that.

But you guys have fun...
