Family Hobby Night

7 Years, 5 Months ago

Page: 1

I have been reviewing all of the past ideas for a family night. I couldn't find anything on hobbies. A hobby can be very important for a childs growth. I did some research and decided to present a plan to the board.

I think I have thought of all of the common hobbies. Anyone have any suggestions?

Since January is National Hobby Month we will probably do it then. I will look for businesses, families, staff, etc... who would be interested in sharing their hobby for the evening. Set up stations where they can view, see demonstrations and possibly participate in a hobby.

I would also like to find a survey that they could take that would help point them in the direction of a hobby suitable to them. Any ideas on where I can find such a critter??

Any help or thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

Two years ago we tried a hobby night. On the upside, we had a ton of families set up tables with their hobby and or collection. I'd say we had over 20 tables. However, those that attended the event did not stay long; they lost interest and quickly left. Our FFN are usually in conjunction with our book fairs. On hobby night, book sales were down... I'd have an activity or something for those attending. It might help. . . Please let us know after the event what worked for you.
