2nd grade family night

7 Years, 3 Months ago

Page: 1

Our PTO decided to have each grade level have their own family night with some type of activity for the students and parents to do. I teach 2nd grade and ours is Nov 16th. We have decided since it is close to Thanksgiving we would read the book: Turk and Runt, and then let the children and their parent make a turkey. The craft was ordered from Oriental Trading. We also decided to feed the parent/guardian, and their child pizza. We get good deals from the business in town. I need help on wording the letter to send home with each child, stating that we will only feed the parent/guardian and their child. This letter will be to give us an approximate number, to order the pizza. We have problems with everyone in the family coming, when serving food. Like cousins, aunts, uncles, and all siblings. If anyone can give some lead I would appreciate it.

Thank You

Benji what if you do a ticket system. when we do our grandparent/special friend luncheon we word it on the flyer that the child may only bring up to four guests(or how many you want) we do have some that doesnt listen but if you actually went one step farther and once you got the rsvps send home tickets for the child and their number of guests only. of course keep track on paper and also put some kind of mark that cant be copied, like a signature in red marker something like that.when they arrive you take your list , mark them off and take tickets. You could say that anyone else could perhaps pay their way (if this is a option). Just a thought..not sure if its what you are looking for...

I would say, "We don't have enough "dough" to pay for all family members for dinner, but we will have a complimentary piece for the student and parent. If sister, brothers and others would like to join us, we will have pizza available for a buck a slice!" Then, I would have the kids make up a fun name tag for themselves and their parents to wear, so that you know who to serve as they approach the table.

Good luck!
