One of our K teachers does this with her students during the first week of school after reading Jan Brett's "Gingerbread Baby." The class searches all over the school meeting the staff and seeing where things are. Ultimately the gingerbread baby is with the principal (she loves it) and she talks to them about behavior, rules, etc.

My friend and I did recreation at summer camp last year. After letting them watch "Willy Wonka" She made a trail for them leaving clues everywhere. The end result was chocolate bars for everyone (it was a small group) which included a "golden ticket." They had a blast.

Our kindergarten also does a scavenger hunt on St, Pat's day. They go "hunting for the leprechaun". They follow the various clues around school- looking for the pot o' gold (a bowl of goldfish). They break the classes up into several "teams" and go around the school with a volunteer.
Then they take their pot o gold back to the room for a party.

Some things they look for around the school are the yellow shamrock, the rainbow over the door, the picture of a leprechaun with a shoe off,
an empty pot, the horseshoe etc. Each clue leads to the next one- until the find the "gold".

Have fun!

We hold a scavenger hunt every year for all the Kindergarten students. We have 2 people in charge that make up maps of the school and purchase stickers. For example, each kindergarten room as a different colored shaped by their door, the kids look at their sticker chart and find the shape that leads them to the next point. We spend about $150.00 for the entire thing for over 200 students and they have a great time. The stickers are kept in baskets at each door on a chair to help minimize the number of volunteers needed that night. We enlist the help of 5th and 6th student council members to help direct parents and kids the locations. The maps take them all over the school to the library, cafeteria, gym and finally end at the classroom where they meet their teachers and classmates. At each location they pick up a stick that they put on their sticker sheet. Everyone starts their hunt in the gym where the principal, PTO officers and teachers are introduced. Hope this helps!

Has anyone done a Scavenger Hunt or Clue Hunt? We were thinking of doing one with our school. Maybe just the parents and teachers? At the end, there is usually a final destination that all participants meet at for a party. Thought it would be a great way for parents to meet each other and to involve the teachers as well. Anybody have any ideas that could help us get started? Not necessarily for fund raising purposes. Mainly for social purposes. Any input would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
