A family fishing derby and picnic with games is a great idea. We usually have this at the end of the school year after trout season opens and the weather is warm. We ask for donations of worms, lunch items -rolls and juices- (a hot dog, a snack and a drink are included with the price then we sell the rest at a small price) from businesses and pick up prizes that are not too expensive and give them for 1st 2nd and 3rd for longest, heaviest and most fish caught. As for the picnic part we have a hoola-hoop, egg toss and water balloon contest with prizes such as puzzles, bubbles jumpropes, mini footballs etc. This is so much fun!
