Hi-
I am a new event planning chair person for my PTG. I am wondering how others, in similar roles, project and track expenses to figure out whether an event would be a money maker or not? Any advice? THANKS in advance!

J

Hi Judy-

You'll love this article -- it tells you how to build a simple cost model and estimate expenses for events.

Also as a new leader, I bet you'll find our event planning kit very useful.

Curious to hear what other groups are doing to track expenses for their events.

In addition to Lisa's suggestions, I've always found historical information to be exceptionally useful. Although you are new in your role, check with your organization and see who has the records and notes for past events. Even if every event your group holds with you at the helm is new and never before done, some of this info will still provide some valuable bits of information you can use.
