Tell us about your Teachers Lounge Makeover!!

Hi Maggie,

She is likely referring to what the school district's policies are on renovations and contractors. The extent of these rules would really vary, district to district. You may find you can still do the makeover, it just may take a few extra steps.

My fellow PTA and I want to make-over our staff lounge at my daughter's elementary school. But when we approached the principal about our idea, she said there were all these rules and regulations about what we couldn't do to the room! Did anyone have the same kind of experience? For the life of me, I can't find anywhere online that has these rules and regs for me to research!

Hi Kimberly,
Your story is great! And what a job for just a few people! Bet the staff did really love it and appreciates it every day.

Would it be possible to speak with you some more on this? We are thinking of doing an article related to this topic.

Thanks for sharing!

Hello My name is Kimberly Richie with Zeyen Elementary School, during the summer, The Principal, Secretary and myself took an empty classroom and remodeled it and made it into a "Teacher and Staff Lounge" we started the project two days after school was out in June and Painted, Sanded, Stained, cleaned Windows Cleaned Carpet, Shelf Papered basically remodeled the room and then asked for donations and Ikea's Design Team furnished the room, Best Buy donated,Stater Bros also donated. This was all Volunteer time and hours put into this project, we worked through the Summer everyday for 2 months and it was just 3 of us. Our deadline I set was August 20th, And it was completed by August 24th. The Teachers arrived at school on September 4th with a Beautiful "New Teachers Lounge" . I am so proud to have given something back to the school for the Teachers and Staff. It was alot of hard work but it was worth it just to see the looks on there face, how happy it made them. Thank you, Kimberly Richie PTO President.

Hi everyone!

We are looking to get in touch with PTOs that have recently done a Teachers Lounge makeover. We came across a cute story about a group that went with an "Extreme Makeover'' theme. We are hoping to find stories of lounge re-dos, either wholesale renovations or even small improvements that really made a difference to teachers.

Can you help us?

Let us know if you have a lounge makeover story!

Thanks,
Rose C
