changing a pdf file from the file exchange

Is there a way to do this?

I found the committee chairperson new year folder pdf and I love it, but I can't figure out how to change it for our school. Same thing goes with the tips from the treasurer form.

Can this be done, and if so, how?

Thank you.

Not easily. The PDF is sort of a snapshot of the original file - which was probably created in Word or Publisher. I wish people wouldn't load the PDF files as it does make them virtually uneditable.

The main tool for PDF editing is Adobe Acrobat, but that's pretty pricey. (Adobe Reader is free.) You can try downloading one of the free "PDF Editors" from the internet but it's often better to see if the poster of the file is still active in the Forums and ask them to post the Word version or to recreate the file in a tool you can easily use.

By the way, if it's not too long/complex of a document you can either use the selection tool and copy/paste the text into a Word file or the File-Save As command and save as text. You'll lose most of the formatting, but at least you won't have to re-type the words. So then just spend a few minutes formatting the document and you'll have your own editable version.

...and if you do, of course, please load the new version back up for the next user
