Movie Night Question

1 Year, 7 Months ago

Page: 123

We are scheduled to have our first movie night in December. I was wondering how often you have movie nights and do you find that they are popular at certain times of the year?

Do you recommend we try it once with a one time movie license or just buy the year license and plan on using it more often?

Thanks for any input you have.

Excellent question adfilson!

Very interested to hear what groups say. Would love it if people shared what movies worked & didn't work for your crew over on our Family Movie Night group page. Photos of your event --- even better : )

thanks,

Our PTA did a movie night last April that was successful. They showed Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory and incorporated the golden ticket idea into it to sell more concessions. They used the golden tickets to award various prizes. The one thing that the board from last year told me was that they would do movies during the winter months when the weather is iffy and it gets dark early.

With all of that being said, we are doing our first movie night of the year next Friday. We let the kids vote on which movie they wanted to see and they choose Dr. Suess' How the Grinch Stole Christmas. We are going to sell popcorn, candy and bottled water. Fingers crossed that it all goes well!

Schools we work with in the South usually host outdoor movies in April/May and again in Sept/October. They do this to piggyback on their carnival events.

Once the weather gets cold, schools host indoor events in November and again in January.

Our group showed Toy Story 3 for our first showing of the year. It was a huge hit. We sold pizza, hot dogs, nacho and cheese, chips and sodas. We also had cookie decorating. We also gave away prizes. We usually two maybe three a year. We usually go for the new releases like we did with Toy Story 3 we showed it the first day it was out on DVD. We are talking about about showing Dr. Suess Horton Hears a Who for our next movie the week of Dr. Suess's birthday. We plan on having a birthday cake and everything.
