Does your group do anything to support teachers during parent teacher conferences, e.g. make dinners for the teachers?

Our PTO provides dinner or a heavy snack for the teachers during conferences.

Nothing major but it is still greatly appreciated!

while creative ideas (carwashes, thank you posters) are refreshingly different, parent/teacher conferences are almost always VERY long days. our PTO always provides dinner for teachers and aides that day (homemade by parent volunteers). it usually consists of two soups, a hot entree, sandwiches, 3 sides/salads, bread, 3 desserts and beverages. you would not believe how much the teachers look forward to that respite before digging in their heels for the long evening ahead and they ALWAYS look forward to it! bottom line? never underestimate the appreciation of a meal!

At our school, we also organize parent volunteers into providing dinner for the teachers and anyone else at school for conferences. It's the little things like that to make it easier, the least we can do!

Our Parent Club at Shoreland Elementary School in Toledo, OH does 2 days of conferences. So on each day, the club makes up a large wicker laundry basket of goodies, drinks and all different kinds of protein filled snacks. Some stuff we even keep in the refrigerator and let the teachers/staff know there are cold items as we, like string cheese and cold drinks. The teachers/staff snack all day long, and it helps keep their energy levels up too!! They tell us that they like it, so we keep doing it!!!
