I'm planning our first BooHoo Breakfast this year, too. Thanks for all of the ideas.

What a great idea! I wish someone had done this when my first went to Kindergarten. If someone could please forward any info and or sample flyer(s) I would very much appreciate it.
Guess I should get busy since school starts in Aug.
Thanks for a great idea!

HI!!!

I just had to add my 2 cents....two years ago I coordinated this event at my old school. We called it the "Boo Hoo to Yahoo Break!" Using the word break instead of breakfast I was able to use the same flyer for my am and pm kindergarten classes. What we tried to do was to show all our new kindergarten parents how they could turn that Boo Hoo into a Yahoo!!! We wanted to show them all the things they could do with all that extra time they had. I went out into the community and got coupons and stuff from local business that these parents could visit in the time their little ones were at school. I had great response from places like tanning salons, haircut places, workout places and alot of business prepared coupons to be redeemed in their stores. We had avon samples and other samples from some of our own PTO moms that have their own business'( of couse with note intorducing themselves and telling them to book a home party in their free time!!!) So all these coupons were put together with a poem about going to kindergarten. Of course the last thing we gave the new parents was information on the PTO and encouraged them to give us some of their new free time to helping us. So it was a membership recruitment thing as well!!!

It went great!!! Good luck with your plans!!!

Luvmykids - you have helped me on several things before - I like the idea of this breakfast and will run it by our principal. Sometimes she is not so cooperative and was wondering if you could give me some pointers on how to get her to listen. Also, do you have a flyer you use for this? If so, can you email it to me at lasater529@msn.com? Thanks!!

When I taught at headstart, we made tiny survival kits, something like
A tissue to wipe the tears
A rubberband to be flexible.... It seems like I ran across a topic once on survival kits and it even linked me to a web site that sold them premade. I would check the archives!! Good Luck!!
