Smile Start of the school letter

Ok I need some help. This is my first year as President of our PTO and I am trying to put together a letter for the parents. I am wanting to put this in the newsletter that our school does as well as for my table that I am setting up for registration and meet the teacher night. I would love some help/pointers any ideas at this point would be wonderful..

If you have any questions just fire away..

Thanks a bunch,

Candy

Same here (for high school). I was thinking of listing the activities & fundraisers planned for the year so parents can see a functioning PTO as well as incoming parents can get a feel that the PTO is a strong one.

HAIS is on the right track. Put in a calendar of events for this year. Also, put in a brief summary of what you accomplished last year. How many $$ did you put into the school? In what areas? How many volunteer hours did your group put in? Think of all the accomplishments that your proud of and the things your group did that made your school a better place. Also, don't forget to list officers and chairpersons and how to contact them, so if a parent is interested in a specific event or program, they will know who's in charge of that area.

I've been digging around and I found some really great tools in the file exchange area. There are some really great one's that I've found and customized. I've found a great survey (well I think it's good we'll see how it goes) and I found some other really good stuff. If you want to know exactly where I found them I'll be more than happy to tell you. It's hard to know what to say. I don't want to come off sounding to wishy washy..Know what I mean.

I'll have to do that. I want my PTO to really grow. It's not all that big and I'd love all the input I could get into making it grow and be a successful PTO... I want all who can to love it just as much as I do.

One thing that I did for my back to school event is print off some articles from this site and have them available for parents to read. I used articles that talked about the benefits of being active and about dads being involved.

These were in addition to the standard "Welcome back, we have a lot in store for you this year" letter.

Regards,
PresidentJim
