PTO Today

Hello:
Our PTA is researching whether we should become a PTO. We are doing this because we spend so much money on PTA dues and get little in return ( I like the PTA legislative agenda though). My principal ddoes not want to be the only non-PTA in the city so I have a couple of questions;
Are there any PTO's in Newport News VA?
If noone knows how can I find out, other than calling every school).

There's no complete database of PTOs. One quick way to find out is googling several of the schools in the district. Most districts have links to their schools. And most school sites have some mention at least of their parent group.
