Default creating bylaws

Our growing PTO is attempting to create bylaws. Though most of us are on board with the idea of bylaws, our VP is not - she sees no reason for us to have them. I have been doing alot of research on how to create bylaws, but I'm kinda stuck as to where to go from now. We are a small private school & our PTO is fairly new. I don't want to get bogged down in the details of creating bylaws. Does anyone have any "universal" bylaws we could start with? Or any suggestions on how to get started? I've printed the sample bylaws from this website, but thought I should have a few different sources to draw from. Our next meeting is in June & we'll be creating our bylaws as well as organization for Aug. Any help would be greatly appriciated.
Thanks!

Default Re: creating bylaws

We have our bylaws posted on our website and they are printable-- foxpto.com
they are looked at every year and changed as needs arise....
These might help when comparing between your samples... then you can see what you need to have in your by-laws for your school.
When you do finish them, give them out to everyone at the pto meeting and vote them in so it becomes official... then no one can contest them later.
