Question

Does anyone have an approved IRS form 1023 that you are willing to share? I would just like to see what type of responses were accepted as I complete ours. PLEASE HELP!

FLADAD,

Good luck getting started! Just a heads up that our Start-Up guide has pretty comprehensive information to help you fill out your 1023 Start-Up Guide Information. You also might want to take a look at PTO Today Plus - PTO Today Plus Info, it is a great tool for groups getting their group organized.

Thumbs up

Thanks Mike,

I was leaning to words ordering that package but the IRS is my last hurdle. I have our EIN and have incorporated in the State of Florida as a Non-Profit. I have completed most of the IRS 1023 but wanted to take a look at an approved copy just to ensure I made the correct statements.

Does the Start-Up Guide include the new 1023 yet?

FLADAD, we are about 2 hours south of you, working on the same thing.

CapeDad,

I have finished the form now, I am now writing statements and attachments. I did have to add alot to my bylaws but I plan to file them with this also. I am pretty confident that I have touched all bases but a sneak peak at an approved 1023 would certainly prove beneficial. By the way, check out http://form1023help.com

This site gave me some much needed insight ...

Hey FLADAD -

Yes, our Start-Up Guide is now updated for the new Form 1023. Good stuff.

DADs - I have the answers we used a few years ago that I could email you, but the form has changed since we filed so I'm not sure how useful our version would be. I can tell you that the new 1023 advice in the PTO Today Start Up guide is very thorough and includes assistance with the attachments almost to the point of writing them for you.

Critter,

I would really appreciate you e-mailing your 1023 and attachements, especially the "Narrative". As for the form changes, the last revision was in 10/04 and all the IRS really did was simplify the process of filing and combine forms from what I can see. To be absolutely honest, I am out of pocket alot of cash to get this whole thing started (filing fees, insurance, office supplies, etc...) and we have $0.00 , so anything I can do to keep my start-up expenses manageable would benefit us as a whole.

You can reach me at: arth@lifelinkfound.org

Thank you so much for the help!

FLADAD,

If you do a search on here of "1023", there are a few examples of narratives, too. (assuming you haven't thought of this already)

Our group is waiting for fall fundraiser money to roll in before filing. I have paid all the other fees so far, but the federal fee was too much.
