For restuarant nights-what is a good % to go towards the school?
Hi
When your school's PTO or PTA does a restuarant night with a certain amount of proceeds go towards the school, what is a decent percent?
On of our restuarants nights was at Beef 0" Bradys, the restuarant took in 700.00 worth of food from school patrons and the school took in a whopping 70.00. Was all that really worth it? We have about 484 students in all. They sent flyers home with the kids. So had to spend money on paper and print the flyers.
I am hopefully going to be elected onto the board for next year and am eager to make some little changes, but was curious if that amount was the same with your school. Thanks.

Two local (family owned) restaurants give us 15% and Steak n Shake gives us 20%. Ten % is pretty low - check other options for next year...I'm sure you can do better.

Thanks. Wish we had a Steak and Shake around here, that sounds good right about now.

Check out McDonald's and Wendy's if you have them-- these are both 15% monthly.
We do McDonald's now and love it--- it's once a month-- and we get a percentage of all sales-- you do not have to say you are with the school to get the percentage.

We have Friendly's Nights where 10% of ALL sales, whether from the school or not, between the set hours, goes to the school.

Re: For restuarant nights-what is a good % to go towards the school?
We have had four dine out nights, and all four gave 15%, however that had nothing to do with us. It was the business who chose the percentage. We don't use it as an actual fundraiser, just a chance for families to get out there and mingle with other families.
Our McDonalds will only do one school a year, only one night a year and our school isn't it. The other school has it locked up. I don't think that is very fair, but what can I do.....?

Pizza Hut offers 20% of all orders. It usually is run from 4-9pm, Monday thru Thursday. Our restaurant offers 20% and we have a good turnout; however, it is a small place and there is not much for the kids to do once they eat their dinner. We still made $303 in the fall. We have another one next week.

Nipomoprez,
Try another McDonald's in your area-- and see if they will run it once a month-- I thought that was something that was from corporate--

Re: For restuarant nights-what is a good % to go towards the school?
wow.... I must be either aggressive or a great negotiator!
Most places in Colorado give us anywhere from 5-20%.
McDonalds = 20%
Chick fil A - 15%
Cold Stone Creamery ice cream - 15%
most local restaurants - 15%.
we also negotiate a free classroom meal for the class with the most participation, we have little slips for them to write their teacher names.
class wins free lunch from the restaurant plus 5 adult meals: teacher, TA, 2 parent volunteers and principal or... we give the lunches to the front office.
McDonalds donates all the cookies for free for us to sell for profit: 3 cookies for $1. He also donates all the drinks for every school event. usually it's like $5 for the gatorade cooler enough for 300 kids. (great for carnivals, school dances)
chick fil a gives us free kids meal coupons, free teacher meal for teachers that come to our events.
so.... all you have to do is ask... the worst they can do is say "no"!
good luck!

What do you use the cookies for that you are selling-- great idea by the way--- Are they for an event at the school- do you sell at McDonald's night or at the school.
