TheMetzyMom slips in for a quick, cold one. Rumors have it that she is at the end of her Fall Fundraiser and that explains why she has been so quiet. She nods greetings to everyone, sucks on a peanut shell, sucks down her drink, and waves as she runs back out on her way back to school....

Actually, we did have someone donate massages one day during Teacher Appreciation Week. She brought in her chair and treated the staff to a few moments of relaxation. She promised me one too, but I didn't make it from the office in time!
Hey my pitcher is empty! Fill it up again and make sure it's the "top shelf" stuff.
Maybe this year I can get her to come and give massages to everyone who volunteers more than 20 hours. That might get us some more help!
You know I think all this tequila is curing my cold! Don't know if my physician will put margaritas on his recommended medication list tho.

someone pour me a tall morgan and coke! PLEASE I swear if I hear "So why haven't you been here to help" one more time, I'm going to scream! As much as I love the kids at school, I love my 9 month old more, and I am a stay at home mom for him, not them. I'm sorry they can't get the help they need, but that's the principal's fault, not mine. And they seem to be doing just fine without me. I would just sit around while I was there anyways. Besides, I have middle school to run now.
Just needed to rant. I am really enjoying middle school, I'm just glad I finally graduated. LOL

Hey, Carrie in Portland pulling up a chair -- I am afraid I would fall off a stool right now... "I'll have a pumpkin ale in honor of the season"
First PTC meeting of the year last night, long one, but three teachers, the principal, and 50 parents! so I am not complaining. Got one for you guys to chew on:
aside from the usual "There is too much sugar at room parties" comes this one: the flourescent lights in the building are harming the children.
At first, I thought it was a joke. She then went on to request that all of the lights in the building be changed out and we use floor lamps.
(enjoy...discuss)

There are also aliens from adistant planet sending out sublimal signals to slowly take over our minds so they can inhabit our bodies after their planet explodes.
Seriously, I have heard that flourescent lighting does have some hazards, but I'm not sure it is a BIG immediate danger. Something to look up in my "spare time"!!! Meanwhile, I toil to find donors to support our kindergarten milk program.
I'm going to have to switch to something with some caffeine so I can have the energy to grocery shop, vote in our school board election, attend a meeting about the elementary orchestra and get ready for my Saturday garage sale.

Hey, Carrie! Found some info on your light issue. Seems it involves PCBs contained in the light ballasts of fixtures manufactured before 1979. The EPA issued a requirement several years ago requiring all schools to remove fixtures containing these ballasts. So unless your school has some very old equipment or this woman is referring to some other issue I didn't see, you are fine. Maybe she got one of those e-mails that has been forwarding for eons! Don't shampoo your hair, don't talk on the phone during a full moon.... Oh yeah, the caffeine is kicking in now!

Hey, LUVMYKIDS, my dad used to give me shots of "Jack" to settle me down when I would have a coughing fit. SO by the time I went to college at Iowa Central, shots were NOTHING to me.... a major dissapointment to most guys, oh well!
