I am also disappointed in my kids' writing skills or lack thereof, and have also been disappointed every year in the writing skills or lack thereof, in their teachers. I wonder if there's a connection?

I'm sure there is beignets. How do you teach something that you don't really comprehend yourself?

The teacher liked my writing, but I didn't even meet the criteria for enough detail of the setting. She did say that she wrote up a quick example of what she wanted and read it to the class, so hopefully that will help. She also said that the portion I critiqued for my daughter was very good and on track.

You know CC, I have some sweet potatoes at home and I think I will be trying that treat out tonight!

We had to do peer reviews in my English Composition class. Granted it's just a freshman level class but still, these people were high school graduates and couldn't write a complete sentence or use proper grammar, punctuation and spelling. I wouldn't have passed most of them through middle school, let alone grant a diploma to them.

Well folks, I am off to officially begin my holiday festivities! I PLAN to spend tomorrow in the kitchen cooking and baking until my counters are full, then distribute the goodies to friends and family.

Have a wonderful holiday everyone! Be safe and rejoice in time spent with family and friends.

My Xmas wish is for all to remember all those who are fighting or have died for our way of life, however imperfect it is, is to live free, pray free, vote free, speak free, ride free, and REMAIN free. Should we choose to do this, we ensure that their sacrifices have not been in vain.

I hope everyone has stockpiled their baking supplies. I just got back from a grocery session and found that our normal food items have really gone up. Even after a diligent coupon clipping for 'our' items it was still a shock to hear the total. They weren't kidding in all those news reports. I guess we can only hope some of the increase is going back into the smaller farmers pockets.
Have a great Christmas everyone!

I do not understand how one store sells eggs for $1.47 and the store across the street charges 99 cents.

I hate grocery shopping!

Welcome Back everyone and I hope everyone's holiday was great!
It's offical, this morning my scale said I gained 3 lbs over Christmas. I hope I can shed those before New Year's and hope to just stay even until Jan. I hate the gym in Jan - everyone seems to come out of the woodowork due to resolutions. Right around March things seem to calm down and we can all get along without the dreaded wait for whatever machine.
With regard to groceries I have now begun my shopping between 3 stores. Cleaning supplies one place, things I can't find at the local store and the items on sale at the local store. It seems like a hassle on paper but cleaning supplies are only once a month and the money I save in shopping between the other two make up for the milage plus. I have a feeling things may get more challanging in the new year with everything going up ... we will see. I think the local farmer's market is going to see me more often in '08 which sounds like the way to go depending on the size of my garden.
